Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is looking to hire two Site Technician II’s at Beaver Dam for the Office of Land Management. This position will perform semi‑skilled work in the maintenance of park vehicles and maintenance and repairs to park equipment (plumbing, heating, air conditioning equipment and electrical system); operate equipment such as trucks, tractors, stump cutters, etc. associated with maintenance, renovation, construction and improvement projects to the site’s grounds, trails, and roads;

maintains building interiors (sweep, mop, and waxing floors; cleaning and disinfecting restrooms and fixtures); and participates in and provides on‑the‑job training, leadership and direction to seasonal staff in groundwork of the park. Essential Functions
  • Under general direction, performs semi‑skilled work in the maintenance to vehicles and equipment of the operation of Beaver Dam State Park
  • Maintains tree removal throughout the Region 4 parks
  • Operates, monitors, and repairs site equipment and outdoor facilities
  • Maintains building interiors
  • Engages in camper activities seasonally
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires education and experience equivalent to high school graduation and two years maintenance or farming experience preferably associated with the building trades and/or the operation of heavy equipment and machinery
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of tools and equipment used in the trades and/or operation of heavy equipment or farm machinery and implements and/or warehousing
  • Two (2) years of experience in following written and oral instructions
  • Two (2) years of experience in informing visitors of site facilities, programs, rules and regulations
  • Two (2) years of working experience completing tasks using welding equipment and cutting torch for general maintenance
