Overview
The Rehab Repair Technician performs and supervises the assembly, repair and maintenance of Rehab equipment provided by Memorial Home Services of CI, and maintaining all appropriate documentation. This service or repair could be for equipment to be delivered in compliance with specific medical requirements, modifications to existing customer equipment, repair of damaged or malfunctioning customer equipment or routine service required by the manufacturer.

Qualifications
Education:
• Education equivalent to graduation from high school is required.
Licensure/Certification /Registry:
• Must possess a valid IL driver's license and be deemed as an acceptable driver in accordance with the MHS Fleet Safety Policy (five year MVR will be required).
• Minimum of 10 complex rehab CEU's required annually
Experience:
• One or more years of experience in HME/healthcare delivery, warehouse, electrical maintenance and repair or related experience required.
Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Possess basic mathematics and personal computer skills, with the ability to retrieve and enter limited amounts of data are required.
• Must be detailed oriented, organized, focused and personable.
• Ability to use a variety of medical testing equipment.
• Demonstrates the ability to push and pull up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong mechanical aptitude is required.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and/or modify equipment, as needed, in order to assure proper fitting and functioning of rehabilitation equipment. This may be done in the shop or in the field.
- Be skilled in troubleshooting mobility equipment to determine type of service or parts necessary for repair. Provide excellent listening and communication skills to customers in troubleshooting service requests via telephone or in person.
- In case of equipment breakdown, converse with equipment operators to ascertain problems with equipment before breakdown to determine if breakdown is due to human error or mechanical problems.
- Coordinate demo/loaner equipment as needed
- Assemble or prepare equipment for delivery, pulling and assembling equipment and supplies from the warehouse as prescribed on patient/client delivery tickets.
- Assemble complex seating and positioning assemblies, custom manual wheelchairs, power wheelchairs and all other specialty equipment under the guidance of the ATP.
- Provide service or repair for:
- Equipment to be delivered in compliance with specific medical requirements.
- Custom Modifications to new or existing customer equipment.
- Repair of damaged or malfunctioning customer equipment.
- Routine service required by the manufacturer.
- Be able to prepare and effectively communicate repair quotes.
- Have sufficient electronics skills in.
- Electronic assembly for power mobility.
- Troubleshooting and repair of electronic controls.
- Learn and proficiently utilize power chair programmers, testing equipment, manufacturer software applications for complex power wheelchairs set-up and troubleshooting.
- Inspect incoming rentals, maintenance needed and repairs required. Inspect and process returns per company and infection control guidelines.
- Perform a thorough check on REHAB Equipment, in house and in the field and verify equipment is working properly.
- Follow established maintenance schedule for each piece of equipment per specific equipment procedure requirements and per manufacturer's recommendations. Maintain equipment in good working order and appearance and verify equipment is working properly.
- Monitor and report abnormal wear and tear to equipment that may be caused by customer misuse or abuse.
- When complex repairs are needed, ensure repairs are scheduled and completed. Provide complete thorough documentation on all equipment.
