Hours: Full Time (37.5 hours per week) with flexibility Salary: $40,000/ year to start, exempt

Description

The Facility Maintenance/ Groundskeeper/ Site Manager provides general maintenance and custodial services in accordance with the council’s policies and standards. The incumbent works closely with camp directors, volunteers, and council staff to ensure that troop, day and resident campers have a successful camping experience, and that property is safe and attractive for users.

Responsibilities
  • Managing routine and as-needed maintenance of campgrounds, and maintenance and repairs to structures and equipment located at the camp
  • Prepare and maintain buildings, facilities, grounds, and equipment for user groups in accordance with GSUSA and American Camp Association standards, and State Codes. Check in and Checkout after users depart
  • Managing site reservation system including confirmation of reservations from troops and outside groups, verification of payment, processing any refunds, coordinating the use of camps by other departments, and informing groups of activities available to reserve and use during their visits.
  • Working closely with, supporting, and coordinating site reservations with the GSNI Program department staff.
  • Assisting with infrastructure improvement, creation and maintenance of recreational spaces, and creation and maintenance of equipment
  • Greeting groups as they arrive, checking-in and check out and supporting visitors and campers
  • Tending to any livestock located at the camp
  • Assisting with implementation of the Forestry Management Plan
  • Computer experience is Required
    . Experience with site reservation preferred
Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge and experience with general maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, electrical repair, painting, masonry, tree trimming and removal, and maintenance of vehicles and equipment
  • Experience with operating maintenance equipment (power tools, trimmer, and mowers, tractor, snowplow, etc.)
  • Illinois Commercial Pesticide Applicator License Required within 6 months of hire
  • Illinois Certified Pool Operator License required within 12 months of hire
  • Valid Illinois Divers License
  • Ability to move, lift, bend, and carry equipment up to 50 pounds without assistance
  • American Red Cross First Aid/CPR certification desired at time of employment—required within 6 months of hire date
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of related work experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
