IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (NETWORK/INFOSEC)
Defense Information Systems Agency is seeking a qualified candidate for the IT Cybersecurity Specialist (Network/Info Sec) position. The role supports the mission of U.S. Cyber Command and requires expertise in DoD communication and network systems.
SummaryThis position is recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility for conversion to the Competitive Service. It is categorized as Professional Work at the Senior level within the CES Occupational Structure and located in the DISA Global Field Command, Infrastructure & Services Division (DG42/451/452).
Responsibilities- Plan, analyze, design, develop, test, and maintain DoD communication and networked systems.
- Provide technical guidance and oversight to government and contracted teams on fault isolation, configuration control, performance, and security.
- Assess new communications system requirements, identify performance deficiencies, and define interoperability needs.
- Recommend technology enhancements for information transfer services within the Enterprise Infrastructure.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Male applicants born after 12‑31‑59 must register or be exempt from Selective Service.
- Security clearance is required; a favorable suitability review will be conducted. Failure to maintain clearance may result in termination.
- Compliance with DoD 8140 policy: completion of Foundational Qualifications within 9 months and Residential Qualification within 12 months.
- Drug testing designated position.
- Mission essential; alternate work locations may be required.
- Shift work may be required.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to review own work or data and ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.
- Customer Service: Experience maintaining customer relationships and assessing IT needs.
- Oral Communication: Skilled in briefing managers and staff on IT systems and diagnostics.
- Problem Solving: Capable of proposing alternatives to complex IT issues through analysis of multiple information sources.
- At least one year of experience managing configuration, changes, events, performance, and problems within transport and IP enterprise network environments.
- Experience integrating operational functions into networks to ensure mission‑assurance engineering across partner domains.
No substitution of education for the required qualifying experience at the GG‑13 grade level.
Additional Information- Position in the Excepted Service; cannot convert to Competitive Service.

- Potential travel and relocation; moving costs may be reimbursed.
- Employment under DoD Manual 8140; subject to future Cyber Workforce requirements.
- Position is Mission essential; may require relocation during emergency.
