Paddle boat Attendant at Naperville Park District

Overview

Under the general supervision of the Concession Supervisor and the Paddle boat Shift Lead, the Paddle boat Attendant is responsible for the day‑to‑day Paddle boat Quarry Rentals operation. This includes money handling, assisting patrons, food service, Carillon tours, and providing paddle boat care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide an exceptional customer service experience by assisting customers on the phone and in person with all Paddle boat Quarry Rental processes and questions. Respond to all customer comments and inquiries in a timely fashion.
  • Assist patrons on and off the paddle boats.
  • Successfully operate POS computer software to assist customers.
  • Ensure confidential use of customer information, including credit card transactions.
  • Successfully balance receipts, reconcile transactions, and prepare daily bank deposits.
  • Monitor inventory of supplies and equipment. Report inventory in need of replacement to Paddle boat Shift Supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and friendly environment for the public and the paddle boats, dock areas, and cafe daily. Clean the Carillon Tower and Visitor Center as needed.
  • Ensure public safety by monitoring paddle boats and all areas in the direct vicinity.
  • Guide tours into the Carillon Tower and Visitor Center.
  • Demonstrate and support District customer service standards.
  • Perform daily inspections of paddle boats and report all needed repairs to the Paddle boat Shift.
  • Perform general maintenance of paddle boats and dock.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • General knowledge of water safety and emergency procedures.
  • Ability to address complaints and resolve concerns.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of readiness and preparedness in handling emergency situations.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, First Aid, CPR, and AED certification within two (2) months of hire.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, Illinois Food Handler's Certification within one (1) month of hire.
Special Considerations
  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and/or move objects weighing ≤ 30 lbs on a daily basis. Lifting assistance is required when lifting > 30 lbs.
  • Ability to ascend and descend multiple consecutive flights of stairs, the equivalent of approximately 16 stories.
  • Prolonged lifting, stooping, bending, twisting, and standing.
  • Subject to outside environmental conditions.
  • Subject to modified/flexible work schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Regular onsite attendance is an essential function of this position.
