Job DescriptionNext Steps of O’Connor Foundation seeks an individual to join our dynamic staff as a Physical Therapist at our Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) & Outpatient Neurological Rehabilitation Center located in Willow Springs, IL.
Next Steps is the first non-profit exercise facility devoted to the rehabilitation and overall wellness of Chicagoland individuals with SCI and chronic neurological disorders. Next Steps is dedicated to providing patients with a post-hospital exercise/rehab facility that will help them take their next step toward a more functional, independent, and healthy lifestyle. Not only is Next Steps committed to helping the patients regain a higher quality of life, but it is also committed to supporting the advancement of scientific research that will aid in the treatment of spinal cord injuries, stroke, and various other conditions.
JobResponsibilites
- Perform initial evaluations and re-evaluations that assess the client’s functional abilities
- Develop plans of care utilizing evidence-based research
- Develop, document, and implement physical therapy interventions based on evaluations and client goals
- Prepare and implement discharge plans and home rehabilitation plans
- Collaborate with staff on administering treatments.
- Advocate for wellness, strength, and conditioning programs
- Education:
including staff in-services, community in-services, attendance at continuing education courses, and a follow-up summary of all continuing education courses to staff members - Maintain and develop professional relations with referral sources; present at or assist with community service presentations at health-related symposiums and special events
Current PT license for the state of Illinois
Strong communication, collaboration, and time management skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to perform office activities normally expected, including but not limited to filing, faxing, emailing, and/or lifting and carrying office supplies
Relate professionally, enthusiastically, and compassionately with patients and their families.
Experience and knowledge of neurological disabilities.
Must possess adequate vision, hearing, and speech to perform essential job duties
Safely lift, transfer, and assist patients as needed several times per day
Ability to assist in lifting, pulling, and/or pushing (10-50 lbs.) patients and/or equipment several times per day
CPR certification
Paid Time Off commensurate with experience and full- or part-time employment status
