Laboratory Technician Department of Biology, Faculty of Natural Sciences

Summary

The Laboratory Technician sets up equipment and materials for research or teaching, prepares samples (cultures, solutions), and maintains safety standards within the Laboratory. He/She supports lecturers and students in lab exercises, handles hazardous waste, manages the inventory, and ensures equipment calibration.

Requirements:

• An Ordinary Diploma in Science from the Government Technical Institute (GTI) or equivalent
• OR a minimum of five (5) CSEC Subjects inclusive of Mathematics, English, and three science subjects (Grades I-III)
  * Prior experience in laboratory setting will be an asset

• Excellent organizing and time management skills
• Strong attention to details
• Proficient in the use and care of laboratory equipment
• Strong dexterity in eye-hand coordination
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills

Salary Scale: UB3: $131,474 – $184,738

Placement on Salary Scale will be dependent on level of qualifications and relevant experience.
