Overview
Description: As a EMT-Paramedic I/ED-Tech at Mercy One, you will provide prompt and effective emergency medical care to patients of all ages in emergency and non-emergency situations who require stabilization and/or resuscitation as a result of illness or injury in the field. Provides care as set forth by the system protocols. Included in this care is administering medication to patients of all ages as needed per protocol, accurate documentation of the care provided.
In scene management, will follow management structure as set forth by the Federal NIMS standards. Another primary responsibility is precepting students. As a teaching hospital, Genesis Medical Center has a relationship with Blackhawk College and other educational facilities and is responsible for assisting with education of EMT-Paramedic and Basic students in the prehospital and Emergency Department setting. Is responsible for decontamination, cleaning, and restocking of any equipment that has been utilized within the ambulance.
In addition, functions as an Emergency Department Technician when not serving in the EMT-Paramedic role in the field.

- Licensure/Registration: EMT-P in Illinois, Valid Driver's License
- Training: NRP, PHTLS (Prehospital Trauma Life Support), EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operators Certification), NIMS National Incident Management System, Incident Command System 100, 200, 700
- Special Training:
Basic Life Support, ACLS - No experience required
- 2-year college program or equivalent experience
