Position Overview

The Office of Inspector General is seeking to hire a dynamic, organized, detail-oriented Regional Bureau Chief for the Southern Region. The Regional Bureau Chief will be responsible for planning, directing and coordinating, through subordinate section supervisors, the activities of the Southern Region investigations, assigning cases and monitoring the progress of OIG investigations and reviews, which includes reviewing investigations of allegations of abuse, neglect, financial exploitation, deaths or serious injuries in State-operated facilities and community agencies.

The Office of Inspector General assists individuals with physical, developmental and/or intellectual disabilities and assists agencies and facilities in prevention of efforts by investigating all reports of abuse, neglect and mistreatment in a timely manner, to foster humane, competent, respectful and caring treatment of individuals with disabilities. The ideal candidate must have prior investigative experience and maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.

Functions
  • Serves as Regional Bureau Chief.
  • Assigns cases and monitors the progress of OIG investigations and reviews, which includes reviewing investigations of allegations of abuse, neglect, financial exploitation, deaths, or serious injuries in State-operated facilities and community agencies.
  • Serves as full-line supervisor.
  • Reviews prepared cases for all administrative and criminal reporting to determine accuracy and appropriateness.
  • Develops, coordinates and tracks appropriate training for all investigative staff, searches for and implements new and innovative methods to improve the quality of the investigatory process.
  • Develops and continually assesses the goals and objectives of the assigned region.
  • Reviews all incident report forms and investigations conducted by facility and/or community agencies for compliance with accepted investigative practice, quality and thoroughness.
