Sr. Cost Accountant

Description

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Cost Accountant to join our team in Scranton, IA. This is a long-term contract position where you will play a pivotal role in analyzing, managing, and improving cost accounting processes to support organizational goals. The ideal candidate will possess advanced expertise in cost accounting and have a proactive approach to identifying and implementing process improvements.

Responsibilities:

- Analyze and evaluate production costs, inventory valuations, and overhead expenses to improve financial performance.

- Prepare and maintain cost reports while ensuring the accuracy of cost accounting systems.

- Conduct variance analysis to compare actual costs against standard costs and identify underlying trends.

- Partner with the finance team to support budget preparation and forecast projections.

- Perform profitability and margin analysis for products, services, and various projects.

- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to cost management.

- Collaborate with supply chain and operations teams to maintain accurate inventory and cost records.

- Recommend strategies for cost reduction and operational efficiency improvements.

- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and relevant regulations.

- Create detailed ad-hoc financial reports to assist management in decision-making.

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

- Extensive knowledge of cost accounting principles, financial reporting, and standard costing methods.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office tools.

- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a dynamic work environment.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.

- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to diverse stakeholders.

- Familiarity with manufacturing cost accounting and cost analysis techniques.

- Experience with systems and process-building initiatives preferred.
