The EHSR department is responsible for many aspects of business, primarily the safety of all employees, contractors and visitors, the compliance with environmental regulations and the management of ESG initiatives. Team-mentality, effective communication and inquisitive thinking are critical qualities for EHSR integration with the business function.
Duties And Responsibilities Health & Safety- Contractor Management, including but not limited to: pre-work and periodic evaluations of contractor companies, communication of hazards related to the process and contractor’s work, emergency protocols, safe work practices and access to covered processes, maintain contractor injury and illness logs, manage the onboarding process of individuals employed as contractors, perform audits and report overall contractor performance.
- Manage safety-related training programs, including the in-person instruction of specified programs.
- Subject-matter expert (SME) for safe work practices, including hot work, lockout/tagout and confined space. Additionally, provide safety-expertise related to routine and non-routine work activity evaluations.
- Management of incident investigation program, primary investigator for Health & Safety related incidents.
- Management of safety policies and procedures, provide safety-expertise for operational, maintenance and laboratory procedures, as applicable.
- Manage industrial hygiene program.
- Contribute to the management of fire protection systems and emergency response protocols.
- Contribute to the management of security systems and access protocols.
- Facilitate the Management of Environmental Safety and Health (MESH) program, which includes performing site audits (MESH Assessments), leading safety committee meetings and distribution of weekly communications (MESH Minutes).
- Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) Coordinator; oversee contractor schedule, leak repair timelines, compiling report data as requisite of air permitting.
- Manage data collection activities as required by air permits.
- SME for water compliance activities; NPDES-permit, SWPPP, SPCC, SDWA, state water surveys
- SME for waste management activities; hazardous waste, special waste, universal waste, used oil
- Manage data collection activities for ESG Reporting
- Manage reporting activities related to ESG; customer and internal.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree required- relevant to the field of Health & Safety and/or Environmental Compliance (preferred)
- 2 to 10 years of experience in the profession or in the petrochemical industry (5+ in the petrochemical industry preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to read, comprehend and interpret laws and regulations
- Demonstrated ability to lecture to an audience
- Self-motivated, organized and adaptive to evolving priorities
- Able to work flexible hours, as may be needed to respond to emergencies and other situations
- Ability to travel
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50lbs, climb vertical ladders, work in harsh weather conditions
- Capable of technical writing
- Proficient use of Microsoft 365 suite
- Competent in OSHA Process Safety Management and EPA Risk Planning Regulations
- Knowledge of municipal, regional and federal Hazardous Materials Regulations
- Has a broad and current knowledge of all other government and applicable industry safety regulations
- Experience with ISO
14001, ISO
45001, OSHA VPP, TRMA, NSC and other relevant professional organizations - NIMS IC-100/200, OSHA 10/30, fall protection competent person
- Experience in air disciplines, including Method 21, Method 9, Method 22, periodic reporting
- Experience in water disciplines, including stormwater sampling, pollution prevention assessments, laboratory protocols
- Experience in waste disciplines, including waste determination, waste inspections, manifest signatory
- Experience with GHG Protocols, GHG Reduction Programs & Strategies
