Overview

We are seeking a Business Analyst to support the applications and processes used by our enterprise engineering organization—specifically in the areas of Requirements Management and FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis).

This role partners closely with our Engineering Lead and works at the intersection of business process, technical application support, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate has experience working with engineering tools, product development processes, or engineering teams, combined with strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills.

This Business Systems Analyst will join our client’s Product Development Excellence, Quality and Cost team, supporting software tools and processes that enable engineering and product management teams to deliver high‑quality products efficiently. This role is a backfill for a key support function focused on requirements management and FMEA software, and will work closely with business leads, vendors, and global users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Application & User Support
    • Serve as the primary business process support lead for our engineering applications (Requirements Management & FMEA tools).
    • Manage and resolve service support tickets from the engineering user community.
    • Troubleshoot functionality, performance, access, and workflow issues.
    • Document issues, resolutions, and recurring themes for continuous improvement.
    • Provide day‑to‑day operational oversight of the applications.
  • Testing, Upgrades & Release Management
    • Support and help lead user acceptance testing (UAT) and regression testing for new software releases.
    • Work with external vendors and internal IT partners to support application upgrades, patch planning, and problem resolution.
    • Identify and define testing requirements for QA environments.
    • Understand release notes, new functionality, and help determine business impact.
    • Ensure smooth deployment of enhancements and fixes.
  • Engineering Processes & Business Alignment
    • Work hand‑in‑hand with the Engineering Lead on requirements management processes, enterprise FMEA processes, and engineering workflow optimization.
    • Learn and understand core engineering processes to support engineers using the tools.
    • Identify gaps or opportunities in the workflow and recommend process and tool improvements.
    • Help drive engineering efficiencies and adoption of best practices.
  • Data Insights & Visualization
    • Use Data Visualization Tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) to build or interpret dashboards.
    • Analyze tool usage and performance.
    • Provide insights back to engineering leadership.
    • Leverage data and AI‑assisted analytics to identify improvement opportunities.
    • Contribute to workflow management and reporting improvements.
  • Training & Communication
    • Provide user communications regarding outages, changes, new features, and upgrade timelines.
    • Assist with user training sessions and documentation.
    • Communicate professionally with external vendors, IT, and internal teams.
  • Team Collaboration
    • Work closely with Engineering Lead (primary direction & priority setting), data design engineers, system analysts, external software vendors, and internal IT support teams.
    • Participate in daily/weekly planning, ticket review, and status updates.

  • Experience investigating issues, documenting findings, and communicating solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with both technical and non‑technical users.
