What You Will Do

The Senior Electronic Component Engineer is responsible for end to end engineering ownership of electronic valves and actuators within Cat Technology design controls. This role will support and execute tasks and activities associated with Component L1-L2 NPI programs and APQP projects. These projects deploy new or improved electronic valves into production, as well as maintain component product lines after launch. This role frequently involves engaging in supplier technical discussions, digging into component quality concerns, and executing design activities.

  • Overseeing compliance with development processes and regulations for electrical and electronic systems and components.
  • Investigating and troubleshooting all technical issues related to electrical and electronic systems and components.
  • Managing and negotiating with electrical and electronic equipment vendors for the development of systems and components.
  • Mentoring craftsmen, technicians and engineers in the development of electrical and electronic systems and components.
  • Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.

Product Design

Knowledge of and the ability to utilize design tools (e.g. CAD) to convert customer and market requirements into a product design.

Experience:

  • Monitors each phase of the design procedure to ensure overall operation meets standards.
  • Trains others on major processes of product design; directs the conception of each component.
  • Advise others on the development of multiple products and their architectures.
  • Delivers improvement plans to senior management and compares the outcome of the design against the architecture.
  • Evaluates feedback from customers and consults on functional weaknesses.
  • Controls design and development costs of a proposed product through effective resource coordination.
Supplier Management

Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.

Level Working Knowledge:

  • Follows procedures in carrying out routine supplier management tasks.
  • Uses electronic systems or tools to record/retrieve supplier information and carry out transactions with suppliers.
  • Resolves routine supplier issues; escalates non-routine issues up chain of command.
  • Researches alternative vendors or suppliers; participates in supplier selection.
  • Works with suppliers to ensure that purchases meet delivery date and quality specifications.
