Our first fumed silica plant was built at Tuscola, Illinois, in 1958. Currently, our site has 9 manufacturing units that produce hydrophobic fumed silica and the site also packages hydrophilic fumed silica. These products serve all types of applications, including adhesives and sealants, coatings, personal care, pharmaceuticals, silicones, thermoset composites and electrophotographic printing.
For more than 65 years, our manufacturing facility has been committed to maintaining the highest standards in safety, health and environmental (SH&E) performance while positively impacting the community in which we operate.
In the role of Facility General Manager you will manage the manufacturing facility, production, as well as all other cross‑functional activities. The FGM is a key player in developing the team and the technology change to set the site for success for the coming decades. Hence, we are looking for a strong leader with enthusiasm and vision for strategic and long‑term development of the site, with passion for people development, strong personal safety and process safety commitment and solid understanding of Lean principles.

How You Will Make an Impact:- Ensures safe production of products that meet customers' needs for quality and quantity. The facility generally comprises more than three production units; chemical processes are complex because of their volume and variety, specialized nature or strategic position in terms of new markets or geographies. May oversee other smaller facilities.
- Manages activities of plant's cross‑functional staff and ensures compliance with all company and external standards/regulations for Manufacturing, Sales, SH&E, Finance, Quality, HR, and Community Affairs.
- Develops a culture where all employees pursue continuous improvement. Ensures improvement of process capability / reliability, resulting in less process variability and reduction in generation of off‑quality material. Ensures safe, reliable and cost‑effective manufacturing of standard recipe products. Ensures that the appropriate management of change process is followed for recipe modification. Effectively manages local measurement capability, resulting in desired levels of measurement error for expected testing of Cabot products.
- Demonstrates commitment to effective Human Resource processes and effectively promotes the necessity of excellence in these activities throughout the site.
- Establishes and implements local initiatives that enhance effective utilization of plant assets through prudent management of fixed and variable costs. Ensures long‑term integrity and fit for purpose of all facility assets. Efficiently manages capital budget through use of the capital management system.
