Engineering Technician – Public Works DepartmentSalary Grade 4: $78,662 – $106,194
FLSA Status: Exempt (Not eligible for overtime)
Benefits: Full‑Time Non‑Union
About the RoleThe Village of Glencoe is seeking a motivated Engineering Technician to support public and private construction projects and resident programs. You’ll also maintain utility and GIS data and assist with infrastructure planning. This role offers a mix of office and field work. This is perfect for someone who enjoys variety, problem‑solving, and meaningful community impact.
Responsibilities at a Glance- Review development plans and permits for compliance
- Support infrastructure and construction projects
- Assist with routine maintenance programs
- Conduct code enforcement inspections
- Maintain utility and GIS data
- Administer resident programs and rebates
- Issue public utility and right‑of‑way use permits
- Assist with traffic and transportation evaluations
- Provide clear, professional guidance to stakeholders
- Inspect private development and public construction projects
Education: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, engineering technology or a closely related field
Experience: One year of related experience preferred; internships and relevant coursework valued
Additional Requirements- Valid driver’s license
- Comfort using technology, mobile devices, and GIS tools
- Strong communication and customer service skills
