High School Spanish Teacher

Duties

Mahomet-Seymour High School is seeking a Spanish Teacher to join our instructional team for grades 8-12. The successful candidate will create an engaging learning environment that promotes language acquisition, cultural awareness, and the development of communication skills while supporting the academic and social-emotional growth of all students. This is a full-time position that will begin with the  school year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Plan and deliver standards-based Spanish language instruction aligned to district curriculum and state learning standards.

* Develop and implement engaging lessons that promote listening, speaking, reading, and writing proficiency.

* Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.

* Establish a positive classroom environment that supports student engagement and respectful communication.

* Integrate cultural studies to enhance students' understanding of Spanish-speaking countries and communities.

* Communicate regularly with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and performance.

* Collaborate with colleagues to support instructional improvement and school initiatives.

Qualifications

* Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate Spanish endorsement.

* Demonstrated knowledge of effective instructional practices and second-language acquisition strategies.

* Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.

* Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Please see the attached current  Salary Schedule (our existing 4-year collective bargaining agreement will expire at the end of the  school year and we will be negotiating a new agreement that will begin with the  school year). Also attached is a summary of our 2026 Employee Benefits.
