FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Work Days: 177 days. Anticipated work schedule 8:10 am-3:10 pm with a 30 minute duty free lunch (7.25 hours per day)
Rate of Pay: Pay Range is $ per hour (based on experience). Benefits and board paid IMRF available.
The job goal is to improve the quality of services provided to students and act as a student advocate by assisting the teacher in implementing all aspects of the educational program, to assist students to meet goals. This position is responsible for assisting the teacher by working with assigned students in classrooms and throughout the facility.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Valid IL paraprofessional license is preferred.
- Associate’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution of higher education; completed 60 semester hours of college credit at a regionally accredited institution of higher education; HS Diploma or GED and a score of 460 or higher on the ETS Parapro; or HS Diploma or GED and passing scores on the ACT Workkeys is preferred.
- Must be at least 19 years of age.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Requires employee to have the ability to push/pull up to 10 lbs.
- Individual care aides assist teachers in presenting lessons that demonstrate an understanding and use of a variety of instructional strategies, questioning techniques, and resources that promote student learning and encourage students’ development of basic skills, critical thinking, and problem solving. - Assisting the teacher in assuring that individual student goals are met
- Individual care aides use an understanding of individuals and group motivation and behavior to create an environment that encourages social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation. The aide fosters a positive, supportive classroom atmosphere and assists students in using time productively.
- Establish rapport with students and teachers in the classroom to promote a positive learning environment

- Assists in creating a safe classroom environment focused on learning
- Help to maintain discipline and assist with individual student behavior management under the direction of the certified staff
- Effectively assist students with transitions
- Assist classroom teacher in maintaining classroom materials
- Individual care aides understand the role of communication in education and develop and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues. The aide is expected to maintain standards of professional conduct, grow professionally, and meet policy requirements.
