Work Schedule: Follows the Student Calendar. Anticipated 2.5 hour days (10:30am - 1:00pm)
Pay Range: follows the Supervisory Aide Pay Schedule ($ per hour - based on experience).
Job SummaryUnder the direct supervision of the Building Principal, the Middle School Supervisory Aide ensures a safe, orderly, and positive environment during non-instructional periods. This role focuses specifically on managing student behavior and safety in the cafeteria and on the outdoor recreation grounds. The Aide supports the social-emotional development of middle school students by enforcing school-wide behavioral expectations and intervening in peer conflicts during lunch and transition times.
Minimum QualificationsAny combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Successful prior experience working in a supervisory position in a school district or with children is preferred. Certification/License:
Paraprofessional or Substitute License is preferred.
Cafeteria Supervision
- Monitor student behavior during lunch periods, ensuring students remain seated, keep noise levels appropriate, and follow "flow of traffic" procedures for food lines and waste disposal.
- Assist students in maintaining a clean environment by overseeing the dismissal of tables and ensuring spills or trash are handled promptly.
- Proactively identify and de-escalate social friction or peer conflicts common in the middle school environment.
Playground & Recreational Supervision
- Patrol the outdoor playground or indoor space (during inclement weather) to ensure students are using equipment safely and adhering to boundary limits.
- Intervene in rough play, unauthorized activities, or potential bullying to maintain a secure environment.
General Student Support
- Escort student groups between the cafeteria, playground, and classrooms to ensure timely and orderly transitions.
- Provide detailed verbal or written reports to administration regarding disciplinary infractions, injuries, or significant social concerns.
- Follow established district protocols for student injuries or emergency drills during non-instructional times.
Additional Duties
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal.
