Position OverviewThe UTeach Program at UT Austin prepares future STEM educators through innovative teacher preparation, professional development, and local STEM initiatives. This coordinating role leads strategic recruitment and retention, provides academic advising across multiple degree paths, and manages scholarship processes to strengthen the UTeach community.
Responsibilities- Supervise a team of UTeach student employees to plan, implement, and manage recruitment and retention strategies, collaborate with student organizations and faculty, conduct classroom visits, and host information sessions and community events.
- Advise UTeach students throughout multiple degree paths, maintain knowledge of CNS and university-wide degree plans, audits, and registration procedures.
- Coordinate the scholarship lifecycle: marketing, application, selection, notification, processing, and thank‑you letters.
- Serve as the advisor for the UTeach student organization, Math and Science Teachers of Tomorrow (MASTT).
Bachelor’s degree and experience recruiting or coordinating a program; at least 3 years of program coordination or administration. Excellent written and verbal communication, experience presenting to large audiences, ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, strong problem‑solving and judgment, punctual and dependable hours, and superior customer service. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in a relevant field, at least 2 years’ experience in student recruitment activities, experience creating written and digital content for social media, proficiency with Microsoft 365.
Salary$50,000 + depending on qualifications.
Working Conditions- May include evening and weekend hours.
- Typical office space with repetitive keyboard use.
- Occasional lifting and moving of boxes up to 50 pounds.
- Office located near active teaching labs containing biological and chemical hazards.
