Long Term Substitute – 0.5 FTE Kindergarten Classroom Assistant

• Paraprofessional or Substitute License is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with staff and the public.
• Uses/operates computer or digital equipment related to the position.
• Demonstrates proficient use of English in written and oral forms.
• Patience and ability to gain student cooperation.
• Assists in the implementation of instructional programs and monitors student behavior.

• Provide individual help and assistance to students as requested.
• Assist in providing individualized and/or small group instruction and supervision.
• Reinforce learning objectives to small groups or individuals.
• Help teacher with class instruction; work with small groups to reinforce lessons, provide one‑on‑one instruction, and supervise students.
• Assist with a variety of activities (songs, stories, media, structured games, art, outdoor activities) to motivate and stimulate children’s abilities.
• Collect and organize teaching materials for the classroom teacher as needed.
• Assist the teacher in preparing the classroom for opening and closing of school.
• Help maintain order in classroom; monitor students to keep them on task.
• Assist in creating an environment conducive to learning, appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Assist in monitoring and supervising students during field trips and special events; escort children who need to leave the classroom.
• Maintain classroom supplies, retrieve materials, clean up work spaces, gather belongings.
• Supervise outdoor recess, lunch, and bus supervision before and after school as assigned, and enforce expectations for behavior.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
• Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Spending part of each day outdoors in varying weather conditions; occasional lifting of weights up to 50 lbs.; significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling.

Hours per Day: 4.00

Daily Pay Rate: $150
