Psychiatrist

Position Summary

As the Psychiatrist, you will provide direct medical and psychiatric services to patients of WMHI in accordance with established institution policy, treatment methods, goals of patients, and unit policy.

Responsibilities include:

* Performing psychiatric exams.

* Prescribing medications and treatments.

* Providing consultation to community agencies and patients and their families.

* Participating in and/or conducting in service meetings, staffings, and case conferences.

* Training residents, medical students, and unit staff.

Salary Information

Starting annual salary
* is up to $358,200, plus excellent benefits.

* * Salary includes add-on of $8.00/hour for board eligibility or $23.00/hour for board certification in psychiatry.

* A 12-month probationary period is required.

* Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position in is pay schedule and range 10/52.

Job Details

All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by the facility or medical personnel directed by the facility prior to their start date.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:

* Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice medicine in the State of Wisconsin (WI) per the Department of Safety and Professional Services requirements.

* Eligible is defined as: you currently hold certification to practice medicine in another state and are eligible to obtain licensure in the State of WI. WI licensure must be obtained by time of appointment.

* Must be one of the following:

* Board Certified in Psychiatry or Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

* Board Eligible in Psychiatry or Child and Adolescent Psychiatry as defined by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc.) (ABPN). In order to be considered Board Eligible, applicant:

* Must be within the last 2 years of a Psychiatry residency program. Applicants are expected to become Board Certified within 1 year of program graduation.

* OR have completed a Psychiatry Residency Program within the last 7 years. Applicants are expected to become Board Certified within 1 year of hire.

* OR be in the process of taking the Board exam. Applicants are expected to become Board Certified within 1 year of hire.

* Possess a Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) number by the time of appointment.
