Position Summary
As a Psychiatrist at WRC, you will have responsibility for the diagnosis and clinical treatment of Wisconsin Resource Center inmates. You will provide care as identified in the American Medical Association Standards of Care following the AMA Medical Code of Ethics, Wisconsin Administrative Code, Mental Health Act statutes, Departmental and Division policies to patients in a care and treatment correctional institutional setting and care consistent with the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) Standards.
Duties include:
* Collaborating with the Multidisciplinary Team in Treatment Learning Plan development regarding health care needs and specific health care interventions.
* Assessing learning needs of patients, staff, and others.
* Providing direction or educational activities as indicated.
* Identifying own learning needs and actively seeking out opportunities to enhance knowledge.
* Promoting quality patient care and a safe work environment through participation, institute committees, and continuous quality improvement activities.
Salary Information
The starting salary for this position is $153.18 per hour, plus excellent benefits.
* * Salary may include an add-on of $8.00/hour for board eligibility or $23.00/hour for board certification in Psychiatry.
* A 12-month probationary period is required.
* Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position in is pay schedule and range 10/52.
Job Details
All appointees will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by WRC or medical personnel approved by the facility within 30 days of the start date.
Candidates must possess a DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) number at the time of hire. Please note individuals who are required to obtain a registration in order to carry out duties in a state or federal agency are exempt from registration fees. For more information, please .

Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include all of the following:
* Licensed or eligible to practice medicine in the State of Wisconsin by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
* Eligible is defined as: you currently hold a license in another state and are eligible to obtain licensure in Wisconsin. Wisconsin licensure must be obtained by time of appointment.
* Must be either:
* Board Certified in Psychiatry OR,
* Board Eligible in Psychiatry as defined by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc. (ABPN). In order to be considered Board Eligible, applicant must meet one of the following:
* Be within the last 2 years of a related residency program. Applicants are expected to become Board Certified within 1 year of program graduation.
* Have completed a related Residency Program within the last 7 years. Applicants are expected to become Board Certified within 1 year of hire.
* Be in the process of taking the Board exam. Applicants are expected to become Board Certified within 1 year of hire.
* Possession of a DEA number.
