Customer Service Rep, HelpDesk/Support
North Suburban Library District is seeking a part-time, 15-19 hours a week, Customer Services employee to work as a team member in a dynamic department. This position is responsible for performing circulation and customer service functions at the public desk, performing minor and major clerical duties, and facilitating the Customer Services Department workflow.
Responsibilities- Staffing the Customer Services desk
- Answering and transferring phone calls
- Assisting patrons with checking materials in/out
- Checking in returned materials and routing to proper destination (including outdoor hold lockers)
- Library card registration
- Collecting money and making change
- Directing patrons as necessary
- Shelving items
- Additional duties as assigned
One evening per week (until 8 PM) and one Saturday per month required. Working at both library locations (NSLD/Loves Park and NSLD/Roscoe) required. High school diploma or equivalent required. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel preferred. Library experience, use, or volunteer experience preferred. Strong customer service skills, communication skills, organizational skills, ability to work both independently and as a team member, and technology skills a must.
Also, must be able to move book carts, bend, lift, reach, kneel, crouch, grasp, and stand, as well as lifting/carrying up to 30 pounds occasionally, and up to 10 pounds frequently. Must be detail oriented. Ability to consistently work scheduled hours a must. Has own means of transportation a must.
