A Color Guard Instructor teaches, designs and/or supplements choreography, and
manages the visual auxiliary unit for marching bands, focusing on dance and flag
techniques. They are responsible for teaching and supplementing choreography for
performances, fostering skill development, coordinating schedules, and mentoring
students. This role reports to the Band Director and requires strong leadership, technical
proficiency, and consistent attendance at rehearsals, camps, and competitions.

• Instruction & Choreography:
  Teach dance and flag techniques. Design, interpret and teach choreography that fits the ability level of students and complements the musical program.
• Rehearsal & Performance Management:
  Plan and lead rehearsals, sectional practices, and performances (football games, competitions, parades). Prepare the unit for the fall marching band season.
• Collaboration:
  
  Work with the band director and other staff to integrate the color guard with the overall visual and musical production.
• Administration & Safety:
  Manage equipment, uniforms, and prop inventory. Supervise students during all activities, ensuring safety protocols are followed and injuries are prevented.
• Recruitment & Mentorship:
  Encourage student participation and foster a positive, supportive environment.

• Experience:
  
  Proven experience in high school, collegiate, or independent drum corps/winter guard.
• Skills:
  
  Strong proficiency in dance and flag work.
• Attributes:
  Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Requirements:
  Knowledge of marching band drills. Must be available for evening rehearsals and weekend competitions.
