Director of Purchasing & Supply Planning — Near Naperville, IL (Onsite) | $135k - $170k + Bonus + Benefits
We’ve partnered with a rapidly growing food products organization operating a broad, multi-category portfolio with global sourcing exposure. As the company scales, they are adding senior leadership to strengthen purchasing execution, inventory health, and end-to-end supply performance.
This role offers the opportunity to own purchasing and supply planning end-to-end in a complex, fast-moving import environment where your decisions directly impact availability, freshness, and customer satisfaction.
What You’ll Own- End-to-end purchasing and supply planning for a large, long-tail SKU portfolio
- Inventory availability, service levels, and freshness across imported products
- Purchase order execution, timing, sizing, and supplier coordination
- Forecast-to-PO conversion considering long transit times and MOQs
- Ocean freight coordination, container optimization, and inbound flow
- Leadership and development of a growing purchasing team
- KPI ownership: fill rate, inventory turns, aging, spoilage risk, freight cost
- Cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Operations, Quality, and Logistics
- 7+ years in purchasing, supply planning, or supply chain leadership
- Experience with imported products and long lead times
- Strong understanding of inventory planning and service-level management
- Hands-on leadership style with a bias for execution
- Advanced Excel skills; ERP experience strongly preferred
- Comfortable operating in a growth-oriented, operational environment
- Highly visible leadership role with real operational impact
- Complex, interesting product portfolio (no cookie-cutter planning)
