Overview

Toyota of Naperville is looking for dedicated Automotive Journeyman Technicians to join our team. This opportunity is perfect for lead techs in the aftermarket who are looking to advance their careers and/or experienced dealership techs that are seeking to be appreciated for their advanced skills and are looking for a place to call home in a non-union environment. We offer higher than average wages ($25-$47 per hour) and expect higher than average results. Pride in the quality of your workmanship and integrity at all times. Our full time Technicians work 4 weekdays 7 am - 5 pm and Saturdays 7 am - 5 pm. Must have a minimum of 3+ ASE Certifications.

Essential Duties and Functions
  • Repair and overhaul automobiles, vans, trucks, and other automotive vehicles in accordance with Dealership and factory standards.
  • Remove, disassemble, inspect, repair and replace units such as engines, transmissions and differentials as required.
  • Overhaul or replace fuel system components, blowers, generators, distributors, starters and pumps.
  • Rewire ignition systems, lights and instrumental panels.
  • Realign and adjust brakes, align front ends, and repair or replace shock absorbers.
  • Replace and adjust headlights and install and repair accessories.
  • Examine and diagnose cause of any malfunction on vehicle and discuss with customer, service advisor, or service manager/director the nature and extent of damage or malfunction.
  • Communicate with parts department to obtain necessary parts.
  • Save and tag parts if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
  • Examine assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
  • Communicate with service advisor if additional work is necessary.
  • Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
  • Road test vehicles as necessary before and/or after repair.
  • Supervise any work of apprentice technicians as assigned.
  • Properly utilize all personal protective equipment.
  • Attend required meetings and training.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned from time to time in the sole discretion of management.
Other Duties
  • Work in a corporative and professional manner with all personnel.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor while on the job.
  • Treat customers and other members of the public in a courteous manner.
  • Maintain required certifications.
  • Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Ensure that customers' vehicles are kept clean.
  • Keep shop area neat and clean.
  • Maintain dealership-owned tools and manuals.
  • Understand and comply with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA, etc.
Qualifications
  • Strong Electrical & Engine Performance Diagnostics experience is required
  • Must be well rounded in the basics of steering, brakes, engine mechanical and HVAC
  • Qualified candidates to repair vehicles right the first time.
  • ASE Certifications
  • Experience and training in diesel repairs and Advanced Technology Hybrids/Electric cars is helpful
  • Best applicants will have 4+ years of successful experience
  • Ability to read English, do basic mathematical calculations, and comprehend instructions and information.
  • Valid in-state driver's license.
  • Driving history adequate for obtaining vehicular insurance through dealership's commercial insurance carrier.
  • Knowledge of automobiles and their working components, and ability to diagnose and repair automobiles.
  • Effective analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn new technology, procedures and specifications.
  • Ability to drive automatic and manual transmission vehicles.
  • Ability to physically operate any and all equipment required for the job.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull 25 lbs. or greater.
  • Ability to operate a PC, and used dealership software programs
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, push or pull as needed to perform job functions.
