Smart Teachers is seeking a committed and proactive Secondary Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and inclusive mixed 11–16 secondary school in East London. This permanent role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting young people and contributing to a positive learning environment.
The Role:
Providing in-class support across KS3 and KS4
Supporting students with a range of additional needs, including mild SEND or learning barriers
Working alongside teachers to deliver targeted interventions and small-group support
Helping maintain a focused, productive classroom atmosphere
Assisting with pastoral care and promoting positive student behaviour
Supporting teaching staff with general classroom duties and daily routines

Well-organised SEND department with collaborative support staff
Friendly team atmosphere and clear behaviour systems
Person Specification:
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience working in a secondary school or youth support environment
A calm, patient and adaptable approach to supporting learners
Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students
A positive, professional attitude and willingness to work as part of a team
Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and professional boundaries
