What You Will Be Doing
As part of a maintenance crew, you will perform various tasks associated with the year‑round maintenance of state highways within the Mat‑Su District. Duties include operating and servicing heavy and light‑duty equipment, maintaining vegetation, signs, barricades, fences, bridges, culverts, drainage structures, bike paths, and road surfaces within the State Right‑of‑Way, and performing traffic control duties. You will also perform snow and ice removal with plow/sanders and graders with all attachments.
Incumbent will be assigned to Cascade maintenance and will utilize various types of heavy equipment to support State of Alaska mission and infrastructure maintenance.

Commercial Driver’s License RequirementA Class A Alaska Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required at time of hire. The appointee must obtain an N‑Tanker endorsement within 90 days of hire and agree to this condition. The position requires a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) per federal regulations (49 CFR 383) and prior registration with the federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse.
Drug and Alcohol PolicySelected candidates must comply with the DOT & PF Drug and Alcohol Policy and cannot start work until a pre‑employment drug test is passed. Violations and refusals are maintained with the Federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse database.
