The Plumbing Apprentice supports the maintenance team by assisting with plumbing installations, repairs, and general maintenance under the supervision of a licensed plumber. This role is ideal for someone interested in learning the trade, gaining hands-on experience, and working toward becoming a licensed plumber.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems, including water supply lines, drainage systems, and fixtures
- Help diagnose plumbing problems and identify appropriate solutions
- Carry tools, prepare materials, and clean job sites before and after work is completed
- Measure, cut, and assemble pipes using hand tools or power tools
- Learn to read and interpret blueprints and plumbing diagrams
- Follow safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
- Support the licensed plumber with tasks as assigned
- Participate in on-the-job and/or formal apprenticeship training programs
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Interest in plumbing as a trade and willingness to learn
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
- Comfortable working in confined spaces, outdoors, and in a variety of weather conditions
- Valid driver's license preferred
- Previous experience in a maintenance or construction setting is a plus, but not required
- Engage in physical activities like standing for long periods, walking, and utilizing hands for tasks that involve gripping, handling, and reaching
- Can safely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds
