About Thompson Creek Mine

The Thompson Creek Mine is a primary, surface molybdenum mine and mill located approximately 48 kilometers southwest of the town of Challis in Idaho's Custer County.

In operations since 1983, the mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods with large electric-powered shovels that can each move up to 100,000 tons of waste rock and ore per day.

Thompson Creek Mine promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

About The Opportunity

We are looking for a Supervisor, Mine Operations to join our Thompson Creek team on a rotational schedule. The Supervisor, Mine Operations is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of hourly employees engaged in the mining of waste and molybdenum ore to ensure safe and efficient mining operations.

Responsibilities
  • Directs activities of mine operators assigned to operate machinery used in open pit surface mining operations.
  • Ensures production targets are met and coordinates production activities with maintenance department.
  • Provides training to enhance mine operators job knowledge and performance.
  • Conducts core competency reviews and skill level evaluations with mine operators.
  • Inspects work area to ensure specific operational performance, optimum utilization and safety standards are being met.
  • Investigates irregularities, upsets, and accidents; recommends procedures and methods to improve production capabilities, equipment performance, product quality and employee safety.
  • Maintains time and production reports and records. Ensures that operational reports, logs, spreadsheets, and other production documents are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ensures compliance with Company policies and addresses complaints regarding employment and safety issues. Ensures adherence to standard operational procedures and work practices related to quality, quantity, safety and efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned.
About You
  • Must possess excellent leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Must have ability to prioritize assignments and make well-reasoned timely decisions.
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of safe and efficient mining practices, procedures, and regulations.
  • Five to seven years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
