The Vehicle Maintenance Manager directs and coordinates the upkeep and maintenance of the mountain equipment workshop, including snowcats, snowmobiles, and pickup trucks. Leads a team of 6 to 8 mechanics and helps develop and manage annual labor and expense budgets, as well as planning for capital cycle needs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees maintenance programs for all mountain-based equipment, primarily snowcats and snowmobiles, as well as trucks, side-by-sides, and other heavy equipment.
- Reviews daily comments, feedback, and work report requests to prioritize and assign work for all shop mechanics.
- Plans and prepares for summer maintenance needs to ensure a reliable fleet for winter.
- Hires, trains, and monitors a progressive program to develop mechanics' skills and knowledge.
- Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Performs performance reviews, implements recognition, corrective actions, and coaching for shop employees.
- Prepares and maintains department budgets, including operating costs, procurement of motor vehicles, replacement parts, materials, and outside contractual services.
- Participates in training authorized drivers regarding company policies and procedures.
- Attends and participates in Mountain Manager meetings.
- Willing and able to work on equipment as needed.
- Has Mazmat/Hazcomm experience and oversees waste oil programs.
- Schedules and completes daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of the fueling system to meet DEQ requirements.
Qualifications:
- College degree or work experience equivalent in a related field.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards, DEQ, HAZMAT, SPCC, Lockout Tag Out, and related policies.
- Preferably ski industry experience with snowcats and snowmobiles.
- Proven leadership and management of small teams.
- Experience as a mechanic working on heavy equipment.
- Proficient with computer-based programs and systems.
- Current Driver's License.
