General Assistant

Seasonal, live-in role. Late February to October 2026. Full time, 35 hours per week. Hourly rate competitive.

The Catholic House of Prayer on the Isle of Iona is recruiting a General Assistant for the 2026 season.

This is a live-in role supporting the day-to-day running of a small, welcoming house that accommodates pilgrims and visitors in a calm and respectful setting.

The role suits someone with hospitality experience who is comfortable working independently and taking responsibility for a varied range of practical tasks.

You will support the daily operation of the house throughout the season.

You will carry out changeovers, cleaning, and laundry duties.

You will prepare simple evening meals four nights per week and carry out some basic baking.

You will help maintain a warm, welcoming environment for guests.

You will work a varied role with some split shifts, with evening work finishing by 8pm.

This is a seasonal role running from late February to October 2026, with a negotiable start date.

Hours are 35 per week, worked over five days.

The role includes private live-in accommodation within the premises.

This consists of a self-contained flat with en-suite bathroom, bedroom, living space, television, and simple kitchen area.

You will have experience in hospitality or a similar environment.

You will be self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently.

You will be comfortable taking responsibility for a varied workload.

You will have a positive, practical approach to work.

Training, induction, and ongoing support will be provided.

A full-time seasonal role on the Isle of Iona.

Private live-in accommodation included.
