Clinical Informationist

Position Summary

The primary duty of the Clinical Informaticist is to manage the electronic health record (EHR) systems, including ongoing implementation, support, and training functions.

• Work collaboratively with all clinical and administrative departments to implement and support interdepartmental workflows, bringing expert clinical knowledge and support to the process.
• Provide support for the development and implementation of workflow processes to address the clinical needs of patients and to support the practice of clinical and medical staff in the hospital and in the clinics.
• Assess and identify training and development needs of staff in relation to the EHR and workflow process.
• Train super users or clinical staff in the use of the EHR, including medical staff.
• Manage EHR system upgrades and solution changes; sit on Cerner Clinical Council and manage change requests to Cerner. Become proficient in the use of Cerner monitoring tools including Lights on Network, Discern Analytics2, uCern Wiki, Cerner Collaboration Spaces (uCern), and Cerner Illuminations.
• Coordinate Meaningful Use and other EHR-generated quality reporting metrics, including value-based care and Patient Centered Medical Home initiatives. Run and review data in quality reports, log SRs, and perform individual chart checks as needed.
• Work with ACO and PCMH Champion to coordinate workflow changes, updates, and recommendations for meeting requirements.

• Minimum nursing degree or related field and at least 3 years of employment in a clinical position; BSN preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of Cerner systems required, or demonstrable willingness and capability to learn.
• Must be capable of handling multiple tasks quickly, calmly, and professionally.
• Demonstrates strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
