The Trial Court Administrator, Sandra Barrios, oversees all administrative responsibilities of the Fourth Judicial District. This includes responsibility for facilities management; serving as a liaison between agencies, the media, and the public; and developing and carrying out policies that enhance court system performance.

POSITION GENERAL SUMMARYThe Guardianship Court and Home Visitor serves in a dual role conducting initial Court Visits for cases involving adult incapacitated persons, per Idaho Code Title 15, Chapter 5, Part 3 and Idaho Court Administrative Rule 54.4, and conducting follow‑up Home Visits for ongoing cases. This position evaluates individuals and situations for appropriate guardianship and conservatorship terms, creates reports, and makes recommendations to the court, as required by statute and court rules for Court Visits, and creates summary reports for Home Visits.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASSThe Guardianship Court and Home Visitor performs complex and varied work under the general direction of the Deputy Trial Court Administrator; however, the incumbent is given latitude to exercise discretion and independent judgment to accomplish work.
As a Court Visitor- Schedules, coordinates, and conducts in‑person evaluations of the person under proposed guardianship, petitioner, and proposed guardian or conservator to determine the necessity, scope, and appropriateness of proposed guardian ships and/or conservatorships.
- Evaluates the physical, mental, functional, and financial condition of individuals.
- Creates and submits case reports of observations and recommendations.
- Testifies in court as required.
- Schedules, coordinates, and performs home or phone‑based visits, contacting necessary individuals by phone, email, or in person.
- Travels to and performs home‑based visitations with vulnerable individuals, their family, caregivers, guardians, and conservators.
- Conducts interviews with necessary individuals regarding their living situation, finances, and other information relevant to general welfare.
- Reports any concerning behavior or information observed to the Guardianship Monitoring Coordinator, the court, and/or required agencies as appropriate.
- Researches court files.
- Provides needed information, resources, and answers questions to those under guardianship.
- Creates and submits case reports of observations.
- Maintains county vehicle.
- Performs related functions as required.
- A post baccalaureate degree, including but not limited to a Masters in Social Work (MSW), Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Juris Doctorate (JD) or related field.
- Must possess a license in good standing in one of the above fields.
- Two (2) years of relevant experience in case types arising under Title 15, Chapters 3 and 5, and Title 66, Chapter 4, Idaho Code.
- Two (2) years of experience working within a social services field, community advocacy or with at‑risk populations.
- Knowledge of how to gather information from collateral sources while respecting limitations for the type of visit being conducted.
