Financial Manager
The District Office Business Manager is responsible for the overall financial management and fiscal integrity of the school district. This position oversees budgeting, accounting, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, financial reporting, grant compliance, and internal controls in accordance with state and federal laws, district policy, and GAAP. The Business Manager works closely with the Superintendent and Board of Trustees to develop and monitor the annual budget, ensure accurate financial reporting, manage audits, and support long‑range financial planning.
Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality are essential.
- Budgeting, accounting, payroll, accounts payable and receivable.
- Financial reporting and grant compliance.
- Internal controls in accordance with state and federal laws, district policy, and GAAP.
- Developing and monitoring the annual budget.
- Ensuring accurate financial reporting.
- Managing audits.
- Supporting long‑range financial planning.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field (preferred, not required).
- Experience in governmental fund accounting and school finance (preferred).
- Knowledge of Idaho school finance laws and regulations, GAAP, and Idaho Financial Accounting Reporting Management System (IFARMS) (preferred).
- Experience in budgeting, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting.
- Experience preparing and working with independent auditors.
- Experience with grant management and federal program compliance.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to interpret and apply Idaho Code, State Department of Education guidance, and district policy.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Proficiency in accounting and financial software systems.
- Ability to work effectively with the Superintendent, Board of Trustees, administrators, staff, vendors, and the public.
Physical demands may include standing, sitting, walking, or lifting for extended periods of time.
