Siemens Smart Infrastructure, Electrification & Automation (EA) business unit is headquartered in Wendell, NC. The EA Business Unit has a diverse portfolio of products, including, but not limited to, low-voltage MCC, CMR fuse saver, MV switch gear, MV circuit breakers, and metering, power monitoring, power quality, and protective relay maintenance and systems of a standard nature.
We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer.This position will be based in Wendell, NC. Relocation assistance is available.
Siemens Smart Infrastructure is seeking a Mechanical PACS Design Engineer for our new PACS manufacturing facility located in Wendell, NC. This is an in‑person or hybrid role, supporting the engineering execution of our SIPANEL Protection & Automation product line, produced under UL 508A panel‑building standards. The position works closely with Systems Engineering, external engineering partners, and the PACS Production organization to create complete manufacturing‑ready design packages.
You’llmake an impact by:
- Converting internal Systems Engineering documentation and external engineering firm packages into full manufacturing‑ready designs for PACS and SIPANEL products.
- Taking full mechanical ownership of the project Bill of Materials, including creation, validation, and release of assemblies and components.
- Building and maintaining high‑fidelity Siemens NX 3D digital twins of SIPANEL assemblies, ensuring accurate layout, manufacturability, and UL 508A compliance.
- Executing 3D wire routing in NX to generate harness lengths supporting automated harness production.
- Maintaining a standardized, organized mechanical part library within Siemens Team Center.
- Uploading, structuring, and maintaining SAP BOMs aligned with PACS production, procurement, and material readiness needs.
- Working directly with manufacturing teams to resolve build issues, clarify design intent, and ensure seamless SIPANEL production.
- Supporting digitalization, automation, and engineering process improvements that advance the PACS design discipline.
- Reviewing and updating drawings, schematics, and manufacturing documentation for accuracy and alignment with customer‑approved designs.
Basic Qualifications:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience in a technical engineering role, with at least 1 year in a complex made‑to‑order production environment.
- Experience working with 3D models (Siemens NX preferred).
- Proficiency with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical.
- Proficiency working with SAP or similar MRP/ERP systems, including management of complex Bills of Materials.
- Experience with Siemens NX routing or wiring harness tools.
- Experience with Siemens Team Center.
- Knowledge of High, Medium, and Low Voltage electrical distribution equipment or P&A systems.
- Familiarity with UL 508A panel‑building standards.
- Experience working in engineering, production, or service environments requiring strict configuration management.
- Experience with Salesforce, Microsoft Project, or similar engineering support tools.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for continuous improvement, automation, and digitalization.
