Medium Voltage Project EngineerThe EA Business Unit of Siemens is looking for highly qualified and energetic Engineers for its Medium Voltage (4.16-38 kV) Air Insulated Switchgear (AIS) Project Engineering department. The role will be hybrid, based in Wendell NC, with flexibility to work in-office and from home.
You’ll make an impact by:- Analyze Medium Voltage switch gear requirements from customers to develop detailed design engineering essential for review and manufacture of switchgears.
- Prepare electrical drawing packages (including panel arrangements, nameplate schedule, schematic diagrams, communication drawings, three-line diagrams, general arrangement drawings and wiring diagrams) for factory manufacturing of the switch gear and customer documentation using CAD software.
- Work directly with project engineers to create product solutions meeting customers’ expectations in cost‑effective and timely manner.
- Work directly with the manufacturing teams addressing any challenges as they produce your designs.
- Initiate and support product as well as process improvements by cross‑team collaboration.
- Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering
- Proven past experience working with the design/configuration electrical power distribution products and systems. Preference given to experience with switch gear.
- Strong working knowledge of standard protection and control technologies used in medium voltage power distribution products with proven ability to share this knowledge with others.
- Ability to analyze customer’s technical specifications regarding the application of protection and control systems and apply appropriate product solutions to meet the customers’ expectations in cost‑effective and timely manner.
- Ability to read, understand one‑line and evaluate electrical schematics.
- Ability to multitask and manage large workloads and business demands.
- A Masters Degree in Engineering is a plus; extra consideration if degree concentration is in the area of power systems.
- Proven ability to create, convert & modify drawings with AutoCAD Electrical or Engineering Base software.
- Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL and NEMA standards for MV Switchgear.
- Experience with electrical design for medium voltage switch gear, preference given to experience with Siemens switch gear.
- Experience involving Data Centers, Semiconductors, Utility, or Industrial customers (i.e. project, products, or end‑customer).

The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
