• Prepare items per customer requests using proper equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
• Inform customers of bakery and deli specials.
• Ensure correct portion sizes to prevent shrink.
• Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to meet their needs.
• Use refrigeration, freezers, slicers, ovens, and other equipment per company guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to temperature logs and cooking instructions.
• Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients per recipes.
• Adequately package, label, and inventory ingredients.
• Check product quality and review "sell by" dates, taking appropriate action.
• Properly use kitchen equipment: stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, robot coupe, etc.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering and shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Understand the store layout and locate products requested by customers.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and answer questions or make suggestions.
• Monitor inventory and stocking conditions, noting any discrepancies.
• Ensure temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained; keep temperature logs.
• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment that welcomes customers, making them feel appreciated by answering product questions.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with procedures and notifying management of unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment for preventive maintenance and report needed repairs.
