Receiving Manager
Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage is seeking a Receiving Manager to oversee the receiving department, train, direct, and monitor staff. The role includes managing receiving processes, inventory, and cross‑department collaboration.

Responsibilities- Provide world‑class customer service as a top priority.

- Accurately receive all incoming products, checking dates, accuracy, and damage.
- Scan all incoming and outgoing products.
- Stage products for efficient delivery to the sales floor.
- Process POs, RPOs, mispicks, invoices, and paperwork promptly and accurately.
- Research and resolve all discrepancies.
- Communicate with department managers regarding delivery issues and vendor out‑of‑stock situations.
- Follow up on special orders.
- Operate a forklift and pallet jack as required.
- Maintain a clean and organized back room.
- Ensure all in‑stock products meet company standards.
- Train and monitor department personnel, assigning tasks and providing feedback.
- Cross‑train with other department managers to accomplish all necessary tasks.
- Assist in interviewing and hiring for department needs.
- Work with the store manager to address performance and/or disciplinary issues within the department.
- Open and close the store, including DSR and the closing cash process.
- Handle register functions, backup cashiering, manage customer returns, address customer complaints, and cover register shift changes, including scheduled breaks.
- Maintain safety and security for customers and employees.
- Manage business disruptions such as loiterers, solicitation, emergency weather situations, and bathroom misuse.
- Answer customer questions per company standards and policies, including structure/function statements and/or nutritional support statements.
- Continuously increase product knowledge.
- Use SAP and inventory management software, run and analyze reports on BEx, email, and utilize other IS programs as needed.
- Work a schedule based on store needs, including evenings, weekends, holidays; position requires five days, 40 hours per week and mandatory store meetings.
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent (preferred).
- 1‑2 years of retail experience in a grocery or retail environment; natural foods background is a plus.
- 1‑2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
- 1‑2 years of receiving experience preferred.
- Forklift certification required.
- Food safety training courses and/or certifications as required by law, maintaining compliance and registrations.
- Ability to manage changing priorities and stay focused.
- Sense of urgency in task completion.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Highly organized with great attention to detail.
- Ability to take direction and follow through.
- Cashier trained and able to count currency.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
