Float Pool - Registered Nurse

Overview

Idaho Falls Community Hospital is looking for a Registered Nurse to join our team. The nurse provides direct and indirect patient care services, meets regulatory requirements, and communicates changes in patient condition with providers and team members.

Job summary — Helps to facilitate functions of the department assigned/floated to by performing duties and responsibilities as described. Reflects initiative and responsibility in patient care across hospital settings.

• Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and the ability to function under stressful situations; adapts to varying assignments.
• Performs head-to-toe assessments on all patients and conducts reassessments per hospital policy, including pediatric, geriatric, and general patient populations.
• Assesses and reassesses pain; utilizes pain management techniques and educates patients and families about pain management.
• Performs patient care responsibilities considering age and condition-specific standards of care.
• Demonstrates knowledge of medications and correct administration based on patient age and clinical condition.
• Follows medication rights to reduce potential for medication errors.
• Revises the plan of care as indicated by patient response and evaluates overall plan daily for effectiveness.
• Assists physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills.
• Performs glucometer testing (point-of-care) per Clinical Laboratory and unit policies and procedures.
• Formulates a teaching plan based on identified patient learning needs and evaluates effectiveness; includes family in teaching as appropriate.

Please note benefits are based on eligibility according to full-time, part-time or PRN status.

Education/Certification: Graduate of an accredited RN program. Current RN licensure in the state of Idaho. Current BLS. Successful completion of ACLS and PALS courses within 6 months of hire and renewal as required. Complete the basic dysrhythmia class with a grade of 84% or higher within 6 months of hire date.

Experience: None required; preference given to Critical Care experience.
