Position: EMERGENCY SERVICES - REGISTERED NURSE

Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Registered Nurse to join our team!

Job Summary

Provides direct and indirect patient care in the hospital setting. Communicates with physicians/nurse manager/co‑workers, as appropriate, about changes in patient’s condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomology. Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Also performs general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ability to perform a head‑to‑toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy, including pediatric, geriatric and general adult populations.
  • Assess and reassess pain, utilizing appropriate pain management techniques and educating the patient and family.
  • Revise plan of care as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluate the overall plan daily for effectiveness.
  • Perform glucometer and EBL
    90 testing (point‑of‑care testing) per Clinical Laboratory and unit policies.
  • Interpret results of laboratory tests and follow protocols, notifying providers as required.
  • Perform patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for the patient’s age.
  • Know medications and their correct administration based on patient age and clinical condition.
  • Follow the five medication rights and reduce potential for medication errors; scanning of medications in the electronic record is expected for safety except in emergency scenarios.
  • Formulate an education plan for patients based on identified learning needs and evaluate effectiveness of learning; include family as appropriate.
  • Assist physicians with procedures and perform services requiring technical and manual skills.

Qualifications Education/Certification: Graduate of an accredited RN program. Current RN licensure in Idaho. Current BLS required; ACLS, PALS and TNCC preferred.

Successful completion of ACLS and PALS within 6 months of hire and renewal every 2 years. Successful completion of TNCC within 18 months of hire. Complete a basic dysrhythmia class with a grade of 84% or higher within 6 weeks of hire if no prior telemetry experience; otherwise demonstrate competency.

Experience: Emergency Department experience preferred. 2 years of hospital nursing recommended.

Equipment/Technology: Basic computer knowledge.

Language/Communication: Must effectively read, write, and speak English. Communicate professionally with patients, families, colleagues, physicians and leadership.

Mathematical

Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers. Calculate correct doses applying necessary formulas as needed.
