Wire Harness Assembly Technician Job Description

Are you skilled in wire harness building within Military, Aerospace, Aviation, or heavy industrial sectors? Join our team in a rapidly evolving start-up company where innovation and purpose drive us forward. As a Wire Harness Assembly Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting wire harness and cable assembly within our Assembly/Production department. You will work with a manufacturing team of 15-20 people, building large industrial wire harnesses from scratch.

These harnesses resemble those found in Aviation or Aerospace assemblies, and feature D399 connectors. Experience in Aviation/Aerospace/Military harness assemblies is highly valued. You will need to interpret drawings and create harnesses without completed schematics. Ideal candidates are passionate about mechanical projects and problem-solving, and have a positive attitude.

Responsibilities
  • Support all wire harness and cable assembly for the Assembly/Production department.
  • Build large industrial wire harnesses from scratch, start to finish.
  • Interpret drawings to create wire harnesses without completed schematics.
  • Work collaboratively within a manufacturing team of 15-20 people.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum 2+ years of recent experience in building harnesses for Aviation, Aerospace, Military, or heavy industrial assemblies.
  • IPC-620 certification or experience with Mil-Spec connectors.
  • Proficiency in mechanical and electrical assembly tools, including torque wrenches, crimpers, cutting tools, and basic hand tools.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and create complex wire harnesses from scratch.
  • Self-starter, confident communicator, and problem-solver.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience using AF8s or AFM8s to manufacture harnesses.
  • Aircraft mechanics experience.
  • Experience working in the early stages of a start-up company.
  • Hobbies involving mechanical projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs.

Environment

Work in a climate-controlled assembly shop and corporate headquarters offices with a friendly, driven, and collaborative culture. We have seven openings on the 2nd shift (3 pm-11:30 pm). By next summer, the entire operation will move to a new location just 8 minutes away.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Austin, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
