The Quality Control Inspector performs visual inspection to verify conformance to AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code Steel requirements and customer specification and other manufacturing processes related to steel fabrication.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform Visual Inspection and dimensional inspections to verify product/component compliance for in-process and final QC inspections on manufactured/fabricated parts and assemblies.
- Identify and record any product quality problem(s) while communicating all quality issues to management in a timely manner, along with recommendations for any corrective actions that may be necessary.
- Witness testing of the welder test assemblies and/or welding operator qualification tests or supervise these activities when performed by third-party testing.
- Verify that the base materials and consumable welding materials conform to the specifications and that the welding filler metals used are as specified for each base material or combination of base materials.
- Verify documentation of performance qualification test results and ensure welders qualifications are current.
- Verify that the welding procedures are as specified and are qualified, and that the welding is performed in conformance with the applicable procedure.
- Ability to understand and use basic inspection tools, such as a tape measure.
- Able to read and interpret product drawings, specifications, visual work instructions and navigate codebooks.
- Ensures materials and products are in accordance with established tolerance levels for quality and performance.
- Perform duties in accordance with TRC’s Quality Management System and Safety procedures.
- Recording inspection results by completing inspection reports, writing NCRs, reject defective parts, label, and segregate as necessary as well as inputting data into quality/production database.
- Able to perform basic math.
- Willingness to be trained and ability to learn in fast paced environments.
- Willing to work overtime on weekdays and weekends.

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Minimum of 3 (five) years of experience in an occupational function that has a direct relationship to welded assemblies fabricated to national or international standards and be directly involved in one or more of the following:
Design, production, construction, examination, or repair. - Knowledge of dimensional inspectional.
- Familiar with SMAW, FCAW, GMAW welding processes.
- Familiar with VT, UT, MT, and PT testing processes.
- CWI certification preferred but not required.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, handle steel, reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to pass a visual acuity test.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high noises. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; risk of electrical shock and vibration.
