Job Summary
College of Eastern Idaho is seeking a detail-oriented, thorough, and organized IT Support Technician to join our growing team. The technician will play a key role providing support for all areas of IT, specifically Tier 2 support. An ideal candidate will update desktop systems, troubleshoot technical problems, and provide hands‑on support for IT issues within the organization.
Work Hours: 32 hours per week – Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Typical Job Functions- Keep systems up‑to‑date through operating system patches and upgrades.
- Provide individual and/or group instruction and training to faculty, staff, and students on new or updated technologies.
- Assist with the design, implementation, and ongoing support of new software and features.
- Investigate and oversee troubleshooting of system errors.
- Provide Tier 2 Help Desk support with network issues.
- Deliver technical support by phone, remote access, and/or site visits as needed.
- Provide front‑line support for hardware maintenance, software, networking, etc.
- Evaluate and recommend connectivity solutions, equipment, and software.
- Modify configurations, utilities, software, etc.
- Install equipment for new users.
- Assist with Tier 3 support, regarding servers, LAN/WAN technologies.
- Troubleshoot and repair software, networks, virus protection, Wi‑Fi technology, and more.
- Maintain current knowledge of technology, equipment, applicable laws, regulations, standards, and systems.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Experience identifying and resolving computer and system problems, including compatibility conflicts, application issues, and hardware malfunctions; strong customer‑service experience with outstanding interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Goal‑oriented and organized team player.
- Ability to analyze and resolve computer or network problems.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of systems, information, software, and upgrades.
- Must reside in the State of Idaho (CEI does not sponsor H‑1B visas).
- One or more years of experience in an IT environment.
- Previous experience as a Help Desk Technician, Computer Technician, or IT Support.
- Experience imaging Microsoft Windows desktop computers.
- Associate degree or higher in an IT‑related field.
- CompTIA A+ certification or other IT‑related professional certification.
- Bilingual (Spanish).
Sitting, standing, walking, keyboarding, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, and gross manipulations are common. Employees work indoors and are protected from weather but may experience occasional temperature changes. On‑site work is essential and regular predictable attendance is required. Employees may be required to work at occasional events and handle tasks outside of regular working hours.
