Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Technical Writer/Editor to work on our Advanced Test Reactor (ATR) Document Management team. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our ATR facility with every Friday off. All work will be performed onsite.
The Advanced Test Reactor at Idaho National Laboratory needs a Technical Writer/Editor to develop cutting-edge documentation that assists operators in running the reactor. You'll compile, organize, and accurately edit operational and safety procedures, scientific and technical publications, and other documents using input from subject matter experts and team members. Your work will involve formatting, technical editing, and writing tasks using the Procedure Professionals Association (PPA) format.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and produce work products while interfacing with reviewers, drafters, subject matter experts, text processors, graphic artists, and print professionals to ensure professional quality and schedule adherence.
- Advise customers on standard usage, style, format, methods, and document preparation.
- Define scope and coordinate with technical management to determine appropriate depth and detail.
- Perform work within established guidelines, templates, and standards that are varied and may be complex in nature, using them independently and effectively with acuity for the slightest grammatical, stylistic, or formatting detail.
- Analyze documentation requirements for INL staff and influence process improvements.
- Use a wide range of information technology applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, simple code, graphics, layout, spreadsheets).
- Complete data entry into appropriate systems to enable proper configuration management, record-keeping practices, and export control, classification, and communication reviews necessary to release information within and external to the laboratory.
- Work with teams to complete projects and represent the organization within other departments to resolve documentation issues.
- Level 2:
Bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree. - Level 3:
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree and 2 years of relevant experience. - Relevant experience determined with the level. Experience includes professional editing in a safety and/or research environment and performing technical editing and writing duties, which includes formatting templates, documents, and other products in Microsoft Word.
- Experience with business computer technology (e.g., Windows, email, Microsoft Office products).
- The pay range for this position is:
