Overview

Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Medical Assistant/Scribe to join our team!

Responsibilities
  • Medical Assistant: Responsible for assisting physician with patient care, clerical and clinical tasks. Conveys a positive image of the clinic. Collects, processes routine testing, and returns results to the doctor. Provides good customer service on the phone, with patients, doctors and other medical staff. Works well under pressure and prioritizes. Performs CLIA-waived moderate testing. Handles patient referrals, pulling charts, filing, cleaning/wrapping instruments, stocking rooms, reconciles labs, rooming patients, taking vitals and history.

    Answers telephones, reviews and assigns faxes. Manages healthy connection referrals/eligibility, collection calls, prior authorizations, checking patients in/out at the front desk, collecting pertinent information. Collects and processes payments, scanning and discharging, answering phones, posting charges, some coding/billing, medical records, blood draws and giving injections.
  • Scribe: Primary role is to assist a physician in creating and maintaining a patient’s medical record; may assist the physician in other ways. Provides service excellence based on patient care and patient relationships. Functions as an effective team member with teamwork at the core, whether performing order entry or providing patient care. Enters provider medication and lab orders accurately and efficiently.

    Communicates with Providers and other medical staff about patient lab and medication orders. Delivers quality service to internal and external customers and carries out tasks as delegated by Providers and Supervisors. Supports patient care by performing duties consistent with regulatory agency requirements, nursing and hospital policies, procedures and standards. Additionally, can perform general duties in all areas within the clinic with adequate supervision.

Qualifications
  • Education/Certification: High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Current BLS.
  • Experience: Prefer at least 6 months experience working directly with Physicians in a clinical setting.
  • Equipment/Technology: Experience with computers and office equipment, required.
  • Language/Communication: Ability to read and communicate effectively in English, ensuring effective communication with all hospital staff, medical staff, patients and their families. Bilingual is a plus. Must understand medical terminology.
  • Mathematical

    Skills:

    General math skills.
  • Mental Capabilities: Can frequently and consistently make sound judgments. Must be organized, multi-tasker, and a critical thinker. Able to understand input from supervision; maintain attention to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to concentrate for long periods.
  • Interpersonal: Good communication skills, and ability to work well with others. Team player and flexible.
  • Performance: Can work well under pressure and meet multiple deadlines. Good customer service skills. Basic computer knowledge with knowledge of CPSI and patient scheduling. Must be able to handle/defuse conflict with patients, their families and staff.
