Idaho Falls Community Hospital is looking for a Certified Nurse Assistant to join our team!

The CNA / Unit Secretary facilitates department functions by performing clerical duties related to patient care and department flow. Responsibilities include administrative duties and acting as the department facilitator, communicating with the general public and various hospital departments, physicians, and nursing personnel. This position does not directly supervise any other caregivers.

• Provide basic nursing care that meets psychosocial and communication needs within the nursing assistant’s scope of practice.
• Serve as department receptionist, receiving and transmitting messages (personal, telephone, computer) or inquiries to the appropriate destination.
• Perform other general administrative duties as required (e.g., emails, filing, ordering supplies).
• Assist with data input using EMR, staffing and charge capture systems, electronic bed board, charge entry and charge reconciliation.
• Stock nurse servers in patient rooms and specialty carts or areas on a routine basis.
• Assist in maintenance of equipment as needed.
• Order departmental non‑medical supplies as required.
• Assist with scheduling and operational processes directed by the Supervisor/Manager.
• Set up or cancel patient appointments as directed.
• Transport patients, blood, specimens, and other items as needed.
• Notify appropriate licensed personnel when a patient reports pain or when vital signs or intake/output are outside acceptable ranges.

Education/Certification: High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Successful completion of a certified nursing assistant program and current unencumbered CNA certification. Current BLS certification required.

Experience: Preferred experience in a nursing or administrative setting.

Equipment/Technology: Basic computer and typing skills; ability to operate vital sign monitoring devices, EKG, manual B/P equipment, and glucometer.

Language/Communication: Ability to communicate effectively and clearly with patients, families, visitors, interdisciplinary team members, and others.
