Idaho Falls Community Hospital is looking for a Support and Material Management Assistant to join our team!

Job Summary

ER Patient (1:1) Sitter
:
Provide direct line-of-sight (1:1) overwatch of specified patients in the Emergency Department, as identified by the CTL/Charge Nurse. Document patient location and behaviors per policy.

Unit Material Stocking and Management
:
In conjunction with the Material Coordinator, organize delivery and supply of consumables and material supplies with warehouse. Restock Emergency Dept., Cath Lab, and Imaging Departments. Check for outdates on supplies in PAR rooms, overflow supply storage, and cabinets. Check expiration dates of sterile equipment. Perform frequent counts to ensure adequate supply and manage expiration dates.

(If a certified EMT or CNA) Transporter
:
When all other duties have been performed and completed, can assist patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to patients and assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of nursing and the registered nurse in charge of the team and/or unit. Maintains solid communication with patients, visitors, and team members (Nursing and imaging technologists).

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Communicates appropriately and clearly to nurses, techs, co-workers and physicians.
  • When performing duties as a patient sitter, will provide accurate documentation of patient’s location and behavior on the IFCH Patient Observation and Safety Form, per hospital policy.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate to the RN or technologist any observed changes in patient status and responses. Maintains awareness of the needs of the pediatric, geriatric and general patient population.
  • Interacts professionally with patient/family.
  • Maintains patient confidentially at all times.
  • Coordinate with Material Coordinator, Clinical Team Leaders, Emergency dept. and Imaging Cath lab managers on clinical requirements regarding equipment and supplies.
  • Par inventory management with Material Coordinator. Maintain and Manage floor inventory stock for patient care use. This includes inventory in trauma towers, cupboards, and closets.
  • Coordinate supply deliveries and returns with warehouse.
  • Checks for expiration dates of supplies and sterile instruments in departments. Sends expired sterile equipment to Central Sterile for reprocessing.
  • Maintain unit equipment and coordinate with Manufacturer for repairs and replacements.

Please note benefits are based on eligibility according to full-time, part-time or PRN status classification.

Qualifications

Education/Certification
:
High school graduate or equivalent. Current BLS. Basic dysrhythmia course or certified telemetry course to be completed within 6 weeks of hire. Successful completion of a certified nursing assistant program. Current, unencumbered CNA or EMT certification preferred.
