- Ensure the continued certification, safety, and operational readiness of all weight handling equipment.
- Develop procedures providing technical instruction to operate and maintain weight handling equipment.
- Issue specifications for new designs and equipment upgrades to support the procurement of new equipment.
- Perform field engineering activities and troubleshooting to ensure equipment is maintained and ready for use.
- Electrical engineers: support of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), AC & DC power supply systems, AC & DC motor drives, and instrumentation and control (I&C) systems.
- Conduct internal and external audits and surveillances to validate compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
The successful candidate will contribute to the Lifting and Handling mission to ensure the continued certification, operational readiness, and safe use of all weight handling equipment at the Naval Reactors Facility. This position will require periodic support of backshift operations and some limited travel. Operations performed at the Naval Reactors Facility directly support nuclear operations of the United States naval fleet.
RequiredCombination Of Knowledge And Skill
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering.
Preferred Skills- Strong academic performance – GPA 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.
- Crane and heavy equipment design, manufacturing, welding, testing, operations, maintenance, or troubleshooting experience.
- Strong technical communications and team building skills.
- Ability to manage and organize tasks effectively.

$63,300.00 - $96,900.00 annually

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities:
Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth
A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world‑class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets.
