Overview

CTE Academic Advisor, Early College role at Inside Higher Ed. CEI Early College Programs is seeking a knowledgeable and student-centered CTE Academic Advisor to join our team. This position will support Career and Technical Education (CTE) students, serve as the CEI Transition Coordinator and specialize in Idaho Skill Stack. The advisor will connect students to CTE opportunities available during high school and will support successful transitions into postsecondary CTE programs through quality academic advising, networking, and connecting students with resources and purposeful experiences.

Under the direction of the Early College leadership and in collaboration with College of Eastern Idaho CTE leaders and the Idaho CTE office (ICTE), the position will work as part of the CEI Early College advising team to provide students with accurate and timely planning tools and resources for CTE pathways leading to credential & certification attainment. The advisor will work directly with students in high school CTE programs and technical dual credit classes to promote CTE opportunities, microcredentials, and postsecondary pathways aligned with Idaho s high-skill, high-wage, and in-demand occupations.

The position will also provide Skill Stack support to CTE instructors throughout Eastern Idaho and will work closely with other CTE Transition Coordinators throughout the state. This position is grant funded and based on funding availability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Student Advising, Outreach & Support (60%): information dissemination, transactional assistance, academic advising, events.
  • CTE Instructor Outreach (30%):
    Idaho Skill Stack, CTE resources.
  • Administrative Activities (10%): meetings, planning, reporting.
  • Under the direction of Early College Program leadership and coordination with CEI CTE leadership, develop/expert knowledge of Idaho CTE programming, requirements, and pathways; provide information to students, parents, teachers, and counselors on CTE programs; advise students in CTE programs with course mapping and academic planning; assist with career planning; monitor credential progress; coordinate planning with high school counselors/CTE teachers; travel to area high schools to promote CTE opportunities;

    support secondary CTE students transitioning to postsecondary CTE programs; assist with applications for dual credit, FAFSA, CTE scholarship opportunities.
  • Promote development and adoption of programs aligned with state-identified high-skill, high-wage, or in-demand occupations; engage with CEI departments on microcredentials; collaborate with Transition Coordinators statewide and ICTE leaders; maintain knowledge of statewide CTE initiatives, resources, and rules.
  • Collaborate with college CTE divisions; track documentation of course equivalency as assigned; participate in TAC meetings and other CTE organizations; promote CTE pathways; manage microcredentials; attend local, regional, and national conferences as directed; develop, track, and report on common metrics for student and program success; manage expenditures and submit monthly reports; assist with grant writing and reporting related to job duties as directed;

    travel in-region weekly and occasional overnight travel as directed; perform other duties as assigned.
